If I asked you about a truly feel-good place in your house, where would it be? For me, the bathroom is definitely one of my favourite places in the house. In the morning it’s where I get a gentle boost of freshness and the peace and quiet I need at the beginning of a turbulent day. In the evening it is a welcoming space, an aesthetic retreat with a comforting warmth that immediately relaxes me. Today the bathroom is far more than a functional place to wash – it’s a room with an attitude to life. Furnishing it in the right way for the long term isn’t an easy task. Or perhaps it is – if you have Duravit by your side. Designer art, innovation and tailor-made solutions are then guaranteed.
Bathroom interiors and Duravit – the two are inseparable. The leading international company from the Black Forest knows like no other how to combine traditional craftsmanship with exclusive design and state-of-the-art technology. Alongside excellent quality, another quality is just as important for Markus Wasser: as managing director of Duravit Switzerland AG he knows that a new bathroom is not an impulse buy but usually an investment for the future that must last for decades. That’s why he and his team place great value on detailed personal consultation, which ensures that the individual wishes of the client are at the centre of all their activities – also in respect of needs which may change over time and which the client may not yet have considered. Off-the-shelf concepts? Not here! After all, says Wasser, the bathroom is not for the planners but for the residents. And for them, the Duravit portfolio reinvents itself time and time again. Outstanding creations are developed together with renowned designers, who make your bathroom into a statement. Best example: 'Zencha'.
'One can sense good design intuitively as a feel-good element. The form needs to follow the function and the application.'
Markus Wasser, Duravit Schweiz AG, CEO + board member
Zencha: Even the name sounds like a promise of Far Eastern harmony and the art of relaxation. In fact, designer Sebastian Herkner is inspired by Japanese rituals when creating his designs. Bulbous, finely shaped curves characterise the striking console basins, which are reminiscent of Japanese tea cups. Free-standing bathtubs capture the rounded-square shape of the basins and creates a striking feature in the room. Herkner deliberately combines ceramics in glossy or silky matt white, or even in trendy grey or anthracite with matt surface, together with linear furniture whose appearance forms a delightful contrast to the fluid softness. Zencha thus has the perfect balance of fine purity and welcoming cosiness. Ever since the company’s partnership with Philippe Starck, everyone has known that Duravit uses the best designers for its product development. 'The bathroom as a place to live and feel good: that’s the standard people want these days. Duravit’s answer? Superb versatility of design, well thought-out functionality and skilful craftsmanship. And precisely tailored to the client’s requirements,' concludes Wasser. Art and artistry for your dream of a bathroom.
